Alessia tagged me (Chic drugstore make up tag)

+What is your favorite drugstore/cheap makeup brand overall?

Actually I don’t have a favorite, I like a lot of brands, but none that much, although Kiko has been growing on me lately.

+What are your favorite face, cheek and lip products?

It’s hard to choose, but currently I love the Kiko Soft Focus Compact. I should also mention I’m in a no blush-phase. And the lip products I love are: Labello SOS Lip Repair and the Kiko Exotic Shine Lipstick in number 5.

+Least favorite product?

This one is easy. My most recent disappointing product is the Oxygen Boost Foundation by Oriflame. This is one of the worst foundations I have ever tried.

DSC_0063

+What is the best makeup bargain?

I have no answer for this, because I haven’t been lucky enough for this kind of event.

+What is your favorite underdog product? (Something you love that often gets overlooked?)

I love removing my makeup with this one item. It’s so simple and yet effective. So it’s time for me to mention the Avène Cleanance Cleansing Water. This cleansing water works wonderfully for oily and blemish-prone skin. It removes eye makeup in the gentlest manner possible, so if you use contact lenses you have nothing to worry about.

+A drugstore brand that is overpriced?

I consider Oriflame a drugstore brand, and for that reason to me it’s overpriced.

+Show your best drugstore dupe(s)!!

Sadly I’m still looking for dupes, especially makeup related.

+Drugstore product that isn’t worth the hype?

Maybelline Baby Lips to me isn’t worth the hype. I know many people love it, but I don’t.

Summer Essentials

For this post I will share with you my current summer essentials.

DSC_0013

SPF is fundamental, especially during summer. I’m currently loving the Eucerin Sun Protection with SPF 50+. I love that is fragrance free. The Sun Protection Factor is quite high which makes me very happy, however this item leaves a white cast, but it’s nothing that extreme, especially compared to other sunblocks. This sunscreen has a yellow color and that is fantastic for reducing redness.  The consistency of the cream is very light, considering its waterproof, plus the lotion it’s absorbed into the skin really quick. The Eucerin Sun Protection doesn’t clog pores, which is another fantastic factor. The packaging is nice, the cream itself doesn’t have that much scent and the product itself it’s not very expensive. And remember to always use sunscreen, because that way you won’t age your skin as fast.

P.S.: It’s a nice base for mineral makeup.

SPF for your lips. I’m currently using the Maybelline Baby Lips with SPF 15. It’s not much sun protection, but when I remember how I feel towards sticky lip balm, or just lip balm in general, this one will do the job for now. It’s not my fave, but its okay. I haven’t found my out of this world lip balm so far, but I’ll still be looking for one.

The Body Shop Silky Cleansing Oil is simply wonderful. I love it. It removes makeup, it cleanses your skin, it’s not expensive, and the smell doesn’t give me headaches.  And let’s not forget the pump. It’s so much easier to have it there, it makes it less messy.

If you don’t like the previous item I just mentioned, I think you’ll like this. I’m “talking” about the Diadermine Cleansing Towelettes. I like the ones that are individually wrapped. Long story shortly explained: these are dry cotton squares with makeup remover in the middle, you need to wet it, then it will foam and them you wash your face with it. It’s very simple.

DSC_0048

La Roche Posay Astringent Lotion Micro-Exfoliant. It’s a paraben-free wonder. Don’t use it more than once a day and don’t use it every day, unless you want your skin to be in flakes. This will dry your face to the point where you’ll be able to peel your own skin easily. I use it 2 to 3 times every week and only at night. It keeps my skin clean and it’s very good when it comes to prevent acne.

DSC_0055

The Body Shop Overnight Vitamin E Serum-In-Oil. This is a time savior, because you get the best of both worlds. You get the benefits of a serum and the benefits of an oil, but the best part is the vitamin E.

DSC_0076

Kiko Soft Focus Compact. My previous post is about this item, so I won’t swim into many details. I’ll mainly mention, it’s a great powder foundation.

DSC_0080

Perfume miniatures time! They’re so cute and so convenient. Currently I’m loving Je t’aime ones. I have Passionnément and A la folie. I like the A la folie one better.

DSC_0087

Veet Hair Removal Cream for normal skin. The tube is pink and the hair removal cream is pink, so if you like pink and if you like to shave your legs this is your best friend. I always get the 200ml tube, that way I save some money. It’s not very effective with really short hair though, however with longer hair it’s great, plus is leaves your skin very soft. It lasts at least 3 to 4 days. I let mine sit on my legs for 10 minutes, because it works better that way.

Kiko Make UP Milano Soft Focus Compact

DSC_0005

I have this wet and dry mineral foundation in shade 01. This product contains 11g of powder which is great. I should start by saying this is one of my Holy Grail products.

I love it because it’s good for my oily T-zone and it never looks cakey. This powder has coverage, it’s not overly mattifying and it looks like skin. It’s not full coverage though, but it’s not a sheer powder either.

I should also mention this powder works better dry.

This second skin foundation glides on effortlessly and it doesn’t settle into fine lines. I think the Kiko Make UP Milano Soft Focus Compact works better for combination and oily skin types.

The compact is slightly rubberized and it comes with a mirror a sponge. And finish my post the price of this item is quite reasonable.

Brand focus – The Body Shop

The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil

The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil is truly suitable for all skin types. The best way to use it it’s by dispensing a small amount of oil onto fingertips then apply to the dry face. Massage your skin to remove dirt, excess oil and makeup, after that moisten your fingers with water and keep massaging your skin. Rinse thoroughly with warm water or with a cloth. When it comes to your eyes, dispense a small amount of oil onto a dampened cotton pad, and sweep over the entire area and rinse with warm water. I think it works better this way.

This cleansing oil dissolves all traces of makeup and leaves no residue behind.

I like how my skin feels cleansed, but never tight or dry after I use this product.

It’s not too expensive either, it’s actually reasonably priced. I’m not in love with the smell of it though, but that’s something I can be okay with. There’s not much to say actually. The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil is easy to use and efficient. It’s hard not love it!

The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil

The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil is a delightful combination of an oil and a serum, plus vitamin E. Vitamin E is rich in antioxidants and slows the deterioration associated with aging if you have enough of it. This nourishing item leaves the skin plumped and healthy looking. The formula absorbs easily while nurturing the skin. It’s not greasy at all, if you’re wondering. I adore the healthy glow that this item gives me, it’s amazing.

I apply it in the evening after cleansing and toning and before moisturizing my face. I warm a few drops in the palms of my hands and pat it over my entire face and my décolletage. I use 2 drops normally, but when my skin is having a less glamorous days I use 3 drops. There’s no more dullness and dehydration, and that’s a really good thing. Plus this product is great for summer; it’s so lightweight, yet so effective.

I also like that this item comes in a glass bottle with a dropper applicator.

To finish this post I would like to add that I use this products at night, because they work better that way. Plus these two pieces work phenomenally together.

Empties #2

So these are the products that I finished and I will give you my final thoughts on them.

– La Roche Posay Physiological Cleansing Gel: this is the gentlest cleanser I have used to this day, it’s lovely. It’s not expensive and the packaging is very user friendly. The pump is very convenient and the fact that this is a clear bottle makes it easier the spotting for how much product is left on the container. It removes makeup and it leaves the skin soft.

Avène Very High Protection SPF 50+: it’s water resistant and it has UVB + UVA protection, however it leaves a white cast, nothing dramatic though. This product has a fantastic packaging because it comes with a pump.

The Body Shop Vitamin C Microdermabrasion: this annoyed my skin quite a lot, especially my cheeks.  Not my favorite at all.

Weleda Citrus Hydrating Body Lotion: this is a great summer body lotion and the scent it’s amazing, I love it.  It’s really a great item.

Yves Rocher Foot Beauty Care Lavender Effervescent Tablet: 5g of good stuff. This is an authentic spa moment at home for your foot.

Number 5

Kiko Exotic Shine Lipstick in Original Magenta 5

This lipstick is from the collection Life in Rio by Kiko and its limited edition. This assortment comes in 6 shades for lipstick, if you’re wondering. I choose number 5. I actually do like the golden bullet, it reminds of YSL lipsticks.

This formula is very comfortable to wear, with that I mean that it’s not drying at all, although it’s not very long lasting. Having this lipstick on my lips is the same as having a lip balm, which is great.

This lip product is quite creamy, but in a good way and it doesn’t bleeds (it stays on my lips). Oh and this is not a mate lipstick. I actually like a lot the shine on this lipstick. Apply like it like you would any other lipstick.
